Carol Bodin was trained as a computer scientists and worked in the field for over twenty years. Toward the end of that period, she juggled both her job and her hobby, weaving.  Finally, she opted for full-time weaving, a skill she learned at Stonebrook Craft Center on Long Island, New York.

Now a resident of Columbia, MD, Carol mainly custom weaves tallitot, tallit bags and challah covers, but is more than happy to undertake wall hangings, mizrachs and chuppot upon request. She frequently does “warp painting,” that is dye painting the warp thread before and after threading/dressing the loom.

Carol especially enjoys her Judaic work knowing it has personal meaning for her clients. She often weaves into the fabric names or Biblical quotes and has been asked to incorporate a father’s tallit bag into his son’s new one. Carol also produces non-Judaic fibert art, mainly in painted silk and the shibori technique.

Carol is a member of Potomac Craftsment Gallery in Alexandria where she occasionally exhibits and is a member of the Weaver’s Guild of Greater Baltimore.
